Tales from the crypt

Three out of the four of us have been down with illness at one point or another over the last two weeks.

And ya'll, I am SO over it.

Over. It.

It started with our daughter being ill for five days...puking, fever, rash, etc. I had a migraine and fever during that point as well, but was not down as long as she was. Then our son came down with what appeared to be the exact same virus...puking, fever, SAME rash. He started to return to his normal happy self about day five as well.
But before his day five came about, our daughter came down with a new fever.
Because OF COURSE.

This one was also accompanied by a very stiff neck, so naturally, I started FREAKING OUT about meningitis.

And then I got myself another fever, just for funsies.

David took A into the ED again for meningitis evaluation, and after a through examination she was deemed to just have another virus.

*ALL THE PRAISE HANDS*, because thank you Jesus.

She's still really sore and stiff, but was given muscle cream and ibuprofen, so we're just trying to stay on top of those things, along with frequent hot showers.

And in the midst of all my fever aches, my neck/back seized up.
Because OF COURSE.
Luckily I was able to see my orthopedist last night  (at 7pm...most medical facilities here are open like 8am-1pm, and then 5pm-8pm...pretty convenient) and while they don't have Vicodin here for pain unless you're admitted to the hospital, they apparently will give you an injection of pain meds directly into your back, loosening things up and bringing you sweet relief.

Shortly after I got home from the doctors, I went to bed.
I awoke a few hours later to the sound of a crying child, and an upset stomach of my own.
I went in to the kids' room to find A complaining about an earache.

Luckily, I had some ear-pain-relief drops I'd brought from the States that we'd been given awhile back when she had a bad cold.
(Somehow - we've made it nearly six years without either kid having an ear infection)
(*miracle*)
So I deposited some drops in her aching ear, gave her some more ibuprofen, and attempted to soothe her.
Until I felt like I was going to vomit.

Luckily David awoke and heard us talking and came in to take over with the up-at-two-in-the-morning children, allowing me to go vomit in our bathroom.

(And who says romance is dead.)

I was able to sleep off and on, in between puking spells, and haven't thrown up for over four hours...so *hopefully* the worst is over.
Even though I still look like this:

The boy is back to himself.
The girl is still sore, but fever free and returning to herself.
David is miraculously healthy, and has stayed that way despite caring for all of us over the last few days/weeks.
He has been awesome in taking care of us and running the home, and I seriously don't know what we would have done without him!

We've got the windows open today, airing out the apartment. We've got probiotics up in here. We're all ingesting tons and tons of clear fluids.
If I had Holy Water, I'd be blessing all of our foreheads.

  2. We have been praying so fiercely for your family lately! My staff, volunteers, and husband are all joining me. Hopefully a new day brings new (complete) healing. At least we know His mercies are new every morning, even though sometimes we wish we didn't NEED a whole new set every 24 hours ;). LOVE YOU!
