Yesterday we went with our homeschool co-op to a lady's villa (no one says "house" here) to learn about gardening.
This lady raised five daughters here in Kuwait, and is now a grandma to three little ones. She just loves kids and has a heart for young mothers, and invited us all over to her home to play in her yard and plant some seeds to take home and watch grow.
L and A checking out the massive fish tank inside the house with a friend...
This was our second time in a Kuwaiti villa,(any other home we've visited has been an apartment) but first time in a yard. It was spacious and beautifully done. It would really add another nice element to Kuwait Living to be able to have an outdoor space like this!
But, I don't know that I'd trade even all that indoor and outdoor space in a villa for our downtown location and ocean view =).

She had a play set that was a big hit with the kids...
L found a skateboard...
And the trampoline was an even larger hit! Those kids bounced and bounced and bounced and then bounced some more...
There was a little creek that ran throughout the property, and she had several of these little bridges connecting different parts of the yard...
Such a fun group of Mommas and kids from Australia, Spain, the UK, South Africa, Germany, Iraq, and a few other places I can't remember right now =)
Lovely water feature...
A exploring the bridge and pathway to the garden...
Her garden was very impressive!
A and her buddy...
She said she had a "snack" for us all, but it turned out to be quite a feast! I'm still adjusting to Kuwaiti timelines...The field trip was supposed to go from 10:00am-noon, and include a snack...
This spread started to be served at like 11:15am, and we hadn't begun to even discuss planting yet!
...but, everyone enjoyed the yummy lunch...
L sat with two friends and ate by a part of the creek...
Our host brought out this apple peeler & corer for the kids to try...
...and a Baby Jail for the little siblings that were tagging along =). Our daughter just loves little ones and had so much fun playing with this guy...
About ten minutes before our driver arrived to pick us up, we started planting =).
Because KUWAIT.
=)
She provided little pots, soil and seeds for each kid, and instructed them on how to properly plant their seeds...
A bunch of happy kiddos and their soon-to-be plants!
Such a fun morning out in the beautiful fresh air! We talked about what different plants need to grow, composting, and agriculture in general. I'm learning that homeschooling has it's ups and downs, and days like this are a BIG up! I love that our kids got a hands on education outside, while getting some Vitamin D as well =).
This looks and sounds like so much fun! And lol to the "snack" part.

ReplyDeleteThis is incredible! Also, your daughter looks like she's about 10 years old in that picture where she's looking at the entrance to the garden!
